Massage provides physical and emotional benefits that promote wellness of the body, mind, and spirit. People live with pain and anxiety, however there are ways to alleviate those problems. Integrative therapeutic massage enhances mind-body awareness, and helps maintain mind-body balance. This may mean that pain is relieved by drawing attention to the cause and breaking the cycle of pain. It can also mean letting go of emotions held in muscle memory. The parasympathetic nervous system takes over, and the immune system functions better, affecting one's state of being on a cellular and energetic level. Massage can facilitate healing, especially when maintained as part of a personal wellness program.
